英文摘要 Gansu Province is an important barrier for ensuring ecological security, standing at the frontier against sandstorm hazards in China, and therefore undertakes the arduous task of ecological protection. The paper summarizes the current condition of desertification and sandification in Gansu Province, proposes the overall layout and mission of sand prevention and control in Gansu Province based on the three landmark campaigns of the Three-North Shelterbelt Program, and analyzes the issues emerging during the program implementation. The corresponding countermeasures are then put forward, i.e., ensuring the water provision for ecological improvement, enhancing joint prevention and control at regional level, strengthen policy support and improving sci-tech support, with the aim to provide references for increasing the efforts for sand prevention and control in Gansu Province.
