英文摘要 From 534 recorded bamboo taxa in China, 153 species were selected as the edible shoot producers. Genera of Phyllostachys, Fargesia, Dendrocalamus, Chimonobambusa, Chimonocalamus and Dendrocalamopsis contributed 78% of the edible-shoot bamboo flora. It is estimated that about 56 species have commercial value and of these, 16 species have an international market demands. Evaluation in terms of commercial, morphological, ecological, and cultivation considerations on each individual species catalogues all edible shoot bamboos into five groups according to the plantation potential indices which was designed in this study. Species in the first group (9 species) are highly recommended for large scale plantation, and species in the second group (33 species) are suggested for local plantation.
