标题 Novel high-performance bamboo modification through nature rosin-based benzoxazine

摘要 In this study, we synthesized three new, entirely bio-based benzoxazines using rosin-based dehydroabietylamine, luteolin, quercetin, hydroquinone, and paraformaldehyde. The chemical structures of DL (dehydroabietylamine, luteolin), DQ (dehydroabietylamine, quercetin), and DH (dehydroabietylamine, hydroquinone) were measured using NMR and curing processes that used DSC, FTIR and TGA analysis. Then bamboo samples were coated with the three monomers by high-pressure dipping, and the polymer coatings were hot-pressed onto the bamboo surface. The results showed that the dimensional stability and anti-fungal of the bamboo improved after immersion, and the experimental group hardly grows fungus. In addition, the water contact angles and mechanical properties of the polymer-coated bamboo also improved, especially the tensile strength of treated-bamboo samples is twice that of raw bamboo, while the elongation at break almost has no change. Also, resistance to aging and corrosion have also been significantly enhanced. Thus, our result demonstrates that these three bio-based benzoxazine resins based on dehydroabietylamine have numerous potential applications in various fields through an innovative combination of bamboo and benzoxazine.
