英文摘要 Abstract The teak plantation management in the Island of Java in indonesia has a history ofover 100 years, which proves that it is successful to transform natural forests into forest plan-tation for sustainable management. The paper introduces the experiences of reforestation ofimperata cylindrica(locally called Alang-alang grass), the approach of government supportin the development of industrial forest plantation, and the current situation of industrial for-est plantation programme in Indonesia. The paper also points out that there is no final con-clusion on the contention between forest plantation and natural regeneration.
