Forest ecosystem carbon cycling is one of the important components in the research aspect of terrestrial carbon cycling, and simulation model is a necessary method in understanding the carbon cycling in forest ecosystems. The key processes in the modeling of carbon cycling include the response and feedback of the structure, function, composition and distribution of forest ecosystem to climate change, elevated CO2 concentration and CH4 production.Forest carbon cycling model can beestablished by the method of empirical model, mechanism model or mixed model. The development trend of forest ecosystem carbon model are: combining the elements of biogeographical and biogeochemical models toward the formulation of regional dynamic models of carbon cycling;coupling models of the C,N and P;using RS and GIS techniques for large scale modeling;CH4 production and its effect on the forest carbon cycling.
